Darcy was born in London, and immediately adopted by a young couple, the Eisners. Her childhood was a dark time in her life, as from the age of five or six (she doesn’t remember exactly when it started) her adoptive father began to treat her less like a daughter and more like his personal escort. The rape and abuse went on for years, and her adoptive mother turned a blind eye.
Around the age of ten, she first met Tyler, which came as a shock to both girls. They both approached Tyler’s parents, only to find that Tyler was also adopted. They also confirmed that they were, as they assumed, twins. With their help, the girls were able to track down their birth information. It took a couple years of research before they found any leads, but they located their birth mother, Taryn McLoughlin, and made plans to travel to the United States to meet her.
Tyler’s parents were there to see them off on their trip, but there was one catch: Darcy never informed her adoptive parents that she was joining, and they'd alerted the police that she was missing. She was stopped by security at the airport and was returned home by police and social services, where the abuse continued.
After Tyler located Taryn in New York, they sent for Darcy, essentially rescuing her from her predatory adoptive father. She was terrified to ever return to London again after that, barely leaving Taryn and Tyler's sides when they would pass through the city on Taryn's tours. She was always on guard, something that she imagined she might turn into a career in law enforcement or the military. When she realized that was not the life for her, she thought of ways to unleash her feelings in a more physical manner, and one of those options was roller derby. She sat in on several tryouts for a local league, even speaking to a recruiter, but never followed through. Alternately, she considered becoming a therapist.
Her experiences as a child led her to into several unhealthy relationships with boys. She always found it hard to say no to guys, and to set boundaries. From fifteen to twenty, she lacked the joy of innocent flirtation. Several times she was the was the one to get physical early in a relationship, assuming that's what the boy wanted, and never understood that she still had the right to say no. For awhile, she dated family friend Troy Urban, and though it didn't last, they remained close friends, as he was one of few guys who'd never taken advantage of her.
Shortly after her twentieth birthday, she dyed her hair blonde in an effort to stand apart from her sister. This also enabled her to pretend to be someone else, someone without her past, so when she met Arturo Moorehouse (Ar), she was able to enjoy an conversation with him that ended at the bar, not at a hotel, or one of their apartments. When they parted ways, it left her with a sense of fulfillment.
The blonde hair also gave her a sense of anonymity, and she was a little less apprehensive visiting London, where she ran into Arturo again months later. They spent the day together, and she realized that just being around him made her feel safe, and she wasn't preoccupied thinking about what he might want from her. Something about him made her comfortable enough to open up to him, telling him everything. They stayed in contact, even once they were stateside again.
Things eventually grew until two settled into an exclusive relationship. Since they took things slowly, Ar demonstrating a lot of patience as she worked through her issues, Darcy found true happiness in a relationship for the first time, and they shared their thoughts and dreams, and many nights together. He understood her fear of complete silence and her need for noise while she slept, as well as her ability to identify at least three escape routes from any location within sixty seconds. He often made it into a game - to see who could spot them first.
As things grew even more serious and they married, they began to plan for the future, speaking with Tyler about the possibility of having children. After a series of treatments and some minor procedures Darcy was stunned when she found out she was pregnant.
Twins Gwendolyn and Clinton joined Darcy and Ar in year 77, much to Darcy's jubilation. The early joy hit a huge snag the first time Ar went on tour, however, as the stress of having not one, but two toddlers in the house was overwhelming for her. However, as they began to grow up and Ar spent more time at home, things became much more manageable.
Upon Ar's unofficial retirement from touring, the pair spent more time on the creative side of things, Darcy having discovered a penchant for songwriting and production from helping him over the years. She'd produced some of his biggest hits. As the twins grew, they displayed an interest in music as well, and both Darcy and Ar cultivated their interest, allowing them to sit in on writing and recording sessions.
Having a family of her own made Darcy realize that she no longer held onto some of her old demons, and with each passing day she fell more and more in love with Ar and the twins. They settled into a quiet life, allowing time for Ar to resume touring, sometimes as a family.
Loss & Moving On
Darcy's fairytale ending was disrupted when Ar was killed in a crash while on tour. It was the first world tour that he'd set out on without the family since the twins were born, though the intent was for Darcy to bring the twins to meet up with him at a later date. Her world was destroyed, and she withdrew into herself for a very long time.
Her energy shifted into fostering the twins' dream to follow their father's footsteps and she grew more social again, joining the New York Professional Volleyball team, the NY Wildcats. She and her sister moved in together, after decades of living in the same buildings. She dated casually, never establishing a serious relationship with anyone, as none lived up to the love she had for Arturo. Decades later, she and Troy Urban rekindled their teenage romance after his wife disappeared, and the two settled into a comfortable physical companionship.
